Expo photo : (Au) revoir photographie – Israel Ariño

This exhibition is part of the Ministry of Culture's Bicentenary of Photography programme and the QPN festival. Co-produced with the Galerie Dityvon in Angers

As part of the Bicentenary of Photography, the CCC wanted to celebrate the art of détournement and photographic material by offering a carte blanche to Catalan photographer Israel Ariño.

In his works, Israel stages images that anchor themselves in reality only to subvert it all the better. This photographer and publisher explores the various narratives of photographic images so as to view photography more clearly as the art of the fake.

He thus roots his practice in the very origins of photography, around the work of Hippolyte Bayard, when reality was adorned with fiction to better reveal itself, and when suspicion was still possible in the face of images that asserted, against all scientific definition, the imagination opened up by creation.
