Overview

There is no innocent image.

Every image is a framing, and every framing is a political decision. To show is to include. To cut is to exclude. To archive is to rank. To circulate is to grant permission to exist.

The works gathered here open a space of poetry and critical reflection. They invite us to recognise, behind each image, a human, political and irreducible presence. They attempt to reveal what the official narrative leaves out of frame.

Faced with the Newspeak of images, the artists question their modes of production, bend the flows, reactivate silenced archives, replay overlooked scenes, and give flesh back to erased names.

Here, naming, renaming, recounting, parodying and replaying are all gestures that belong to an active practice of mutiny. They keep alive stories that others would like to see disappear.

What we see looks back at us.
