Exposition "Écorces" à l'Arboretum de Paris

Frédéric Combeau is a photographer for the Department of Green Spaces and Environment of the City of Paris. He produces numerous features on nature in the city and has specialised in wildlife photography. Here, he reveals a new facet of his talent with tree bark.

He has focused on the diversity of textures. All the photographs reveal fascinating details: crevices, shreds, knots, or burls that cover an old branch and recall its memory. Each piece of bark is fascinating and bears witness to the history of its tree.

The Arboretum, one of the four sites of the Jardin Botanique de Paris, is a space dedicated to trees from around the world, for their conservation and recognition. It is home to more than 650 species of hardwoods and conifers. Contemplate the photographs, approach the trees.
