Listening to living things, conversing with machines.

5 made visible a turning point that was already underway. In just a few months, artificial intelligences (AI), and conversational agents in particular, became accessible to the general public.

Highly versatile, they simulate language and can generate text, translate, answer our questions, and sometimes produce convincing errors, known as “hallucinations”. Gradually, these tools are influencing our ways of writing, searching for information, and learning.

Today, these models are being integrated into everyday objects and services. A new stage is emerging: that of an environment where interfaces become conversational, where certain objects seem to “speak” to us.

Another way of inhabiting the world, which opens up as many possibilities as questions. In this exhibition, you will encounter multiple languages.

Those we have created, such as computer code, up to esoteric programming languages, designed to play with codes, or the different ways of training AIs to produce language.

Those of living beings, such as bird songs or bee dances, which sciences and technologies attempt to analyse by modelling their signals.

And those we collectively invent, the forms of expression born from the internet — memes, emojis, italian brainrots, the elements of a constantly evolving visual culture. This exhibition sets the tone for the season, in an educational and interactive way.

A special route is designed for children and families, with simple keys to explore while having fun. The exhibition is free and accessible to everyone. An invitation to listen differently to the world around us.
