Exposition - Tam-tam couleurs

Discover the unusual, vibrant palette of a richly coloured Africa along an itinerary of objects and images from 14 countries.

The Médiathèque départementale invites you, through this exhibition created especially at its request by Caroline Desnoëttes, to discover the unusual, vibrant palette of a richly coloured Africa. This immersion into African art extends the album « Tam-tam couleurs  », published by the Réunion des Musées Nationaux: Grand-Père Moussa has memories filling his head! He recalls his marvellous journey from Senegal to South Africa. This itinerary takes us along roads, beside rivers, in the shade of forests, through markets…

A selection of objects from the 14 countries crossed accompanies the panels and offers a glimpse of African art: Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Madagascar, Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt, Algeria.

Isabelle Hartmann's photo-watercolours are so many evocations of Africa: the silence of the desert, the sound of waves, the warmth of a narrow street, a stormy sky…

Finally, this exhibition, an invitation to travel, unfolds with the « Surprises d'Afrique  » suitcase, where many fabric bags are waiting to be opened to reveal their treasures.
