Overview
Fêlures is an exhibition bringing together a series of installations that showcase the repurposing of objects and technologies.
Across different collections, of pebbles, absinthe spoons turned into electronic components, birdhouses... This exhibition is conceived as a gathering of low-tech experiments, based on the desire to reconnect with aesthetics and know-how that are deeply human and that move away from today's technopositivist discourse.
Rather than regarding progress as the solution to humanity's ills and advocating the use of technology in every area of our lives, the artist reveals our own obsolescence in the face of our societies' technical development and proposes taking the risk of living with our weaknesses, even at the cost of disrupting our own balances.
Quentin Destieu is an artist and holds a doctorate in the practice and theory of artistic and literary creation; he lives and works between Marseille and Cahors.
Founder of the GAMERZ art festival in Aix-en-Provence and of Lab-GAMERZ, a residency and training venue focused on digital practices within contemporary art. He is currently working on setting up a collective space for artists in a semi-rural environment in Cahors: La Pouponnière.
His artistic work explores digital media and their effects on the development of our societies; he questions a world saturated by technology, playing with the boundaries and relations between digital counter-cultures and popular cultures. His research examines and highlights the links between activist practices and current artistic avant-gardes.
Founder of the Dardex collective with Sylvain Huguet, he has regularly exhibited his work at various festivals and exhibitions in France and abroad since 2003.
