Festival Close-up : Le Petit fugitif, ciné concert

Since 2021, the Close-Up Festival has established itself as a major cultural event focusing on the themes of city, architecture, and landscape in cinema.

New York, early 1950s. Seven-year-old Joey is left in the care of his older brother Lennie by their mother. But Lennie had planned to spend the weekend with his friends.

Annoyed at having to take his little brother everywhere with him, he decides to play a trick on him by faking a rifle accident in a vacant lot.

Convinced he has caused his brother's death, Joey runs away with six dollars in his pocket to Coney Island, where he imagines he can start a new life… He will spend a day and a night wandering amidst the crowds and fairground attractions.

Nicolas Cante will accompany the young boy's wanderings on piano and voice, between compositions and improvisations, completely reinventing the film's soundtrack, and creating as many sonic surprises as his fabulous musical eclecticism allows.

A pianist and electronic musician, Nicolas is a graduate of the Aix-en-Provence Jazz Conservatory, holds a State diploma in amplified contemporary music, and has been working on acoustic and electronic keyboards for many years.

His musical and artistic experiments take him into the spheres of jazz, improvised music, electro, but also dance and cinema. com/fr ; Credits: DR
