Overview
Giovanni Mirabassi's new power trio returns to the stage with a project devoted to the Great American Songbook.
Joined by his longtime companion Gianluca Renzi on double bass and Colin Stranahan, a drummer straight out of New York's new jazz scene, the soloist approaches this repertoire with all the freshness of a first encounter.
This is the artist's first recording under his own name entirely devoted to American standards, and the culmination of an artistic maturity built over thirty years of career.
The result is a set of thrilling (re)interpretations, recorded at the legendary New York studio Samurai Hotel by the legendary sound engineer Mike Marciano. Two further volumes of this recording suite are expected to follow annually.
