Henri Manuel's photographic collection of prisons is exceptional for discovering, through images, the prisons of the period.
"Through this presentation of this photographic collection, I propose to go beyond the images and, through their analysis, to approach what everyday prison life might have been at that time, in order to better grasp what we are told about this reality.
" Fabienne Huard-Hardy, historian, is currently head of the Centre de ressources sur l'histoire des crimes et des peines at the École nationale d'administration pénitentiaire. In 2017 she published Le manuel des prisons.

The Comité d'Histoire de la Ville de Paris, the association Histoire et vies du 10e and the Médiathèque Françoise Sagan are offering a cycle of talks on the theme of detention, to complement, enrich and broaden the scope of the exhibition Prisonnières, les dernières années de la prison Saint-Lazare (1919-1932), presented at the médiathèque.
