Jean Reno - Le Chameau

JEAN RENO LE CHAMEAU La Traversée d’une vie With Pablo Lanty at the piano Show directed by Ladislas Chollat

« Jean m’a dit : « Je veux faire ce que je n’ai jamais encore fait. Dire en public un texte que j’aurai écrit. Raconter ma vie, mon parcours. Être seul en scène. Chanter.  »

In his text, Jean recounts the birth of an artist. His path is chaotic, and the road from Casablanca to Hollywood has several hairpin bends and even a few trips off the road. Jean speaks without pretence about the highs and lows of a profession that is as unsettling in failure as it is in success. He describes his difficulty in finding a balance between his private life and his professional life. Jean talks about the seriousness with which he has always approached his work and the asceticism that certain roles demanded of him. He speaks of the encounters and the sentences that marked his journey and that form its foundations. He tells us about his origins and his ghosts.

Nothing here is dogmatic: Jean does not claim to hold the truth; he speaks from the heart. To illustrate this journey, I have chosen a comic-book world, first in black and white, then in colour, which serves as the backdrop to this life story. These images, like the 8 songs that punctuate the show, will, I hope, bring a touch of poetry to this special moment. I am trying to create a show that resembles Jean: unclassifiable, human and poetic. »
