Overview
An instructive and historical plunge into the night when privileges were abolished. The different social classes come together to think about the future. It is a state in chronic deficit, where the wealthiest escape taxation. A regime running out of steam.
A people at the end of their tether, demanding justice and seeing no sign of it coming. A rich but stagnant country, at the mercy of a disrupted climate. Such is France in 1789. Until, in a single night, at Versailles, everything tips over: the Night of 4 August.
In a quadrifrontal space, Maxime Pambet, the only actor on stage, embodies a dozen characters. A breathless narrative that gives the feeling that History has suddenly sped up.
