La Barbe Bleue
By forbidding his young wife access to the small black study, Bluebeard arouses her curiosity without ever satisfying it.
La Barbe Bleue at Badaboum Théâtre (13007 Marseille), 4 dates from 2 to 12 June 2027.
Checked on 26 October 2026.
Overview
By forbidding his young wife access to the small black study, Bluebeard arouses her curiosity without ever satisfying it. But the urge to know what the study contains is the strongest, and when Bluebeard leaves on a journey, the young woman cannot resist temptation.
Many versions have marked the history of this tale, to the point where it is no longer clear whether a real crime lies at its origin or whether the tale itself gave birth to the famous legend…
In this show, music, set design and video serve a world both unsettling and marvellous, whose poetry offers a true counterpoint to the barbarity it evokes.
Directed by Laurence Janner
With Marianne Houspie and Jérôme Rigaut
