La Douleur

LA DOULEUR« A devastating plunge into one of the most intimate texts by Marguerite Duras, between love, absence and memory  » Adapted from Marguerite Duras's autobiographical account, La Douleur, the play stages the extreme wait of a woman confronted with the absence of her husband, Robert Antelme, who was deported during the Second World War.

In a world in ruins, between liberated Paris and the uncertain returns from the camps, Marguerite Duras faces the hope of his return, which becomes obsessive, almost physical, and tries to survive the possibility of his disappearance.

Through fragmentary writing, somewhere between private diary and mental narrative, the play explores the boundary between memory and hallucination, love and survival, silence and the need to speak. This wait becomes a space of inner decay as much as a point of resistance.

The show offers an immersion in a rare, taut speech, in which writing asserts itself as a vital act in the face of erasure, and where the intimate confronts History in all its raw brutality. Running time: 1h15. All audiences from age 14. Artistic team: after Marguerite Duras.
