La Maison de l’animal welcomes you from 31 August to 5 September 2026, on the theme of « animals and culture ».
Open one week per month, La Maison de l'animal en ville Jane Goodall, located in the Chai de Bercy (12th arrondissement), welcomes all animal lovers. It features a temporary exhibition on the month's theme, an information desk, a thematic library, games, and various activities for all ages.
On the programme:
The exhibition: La Maison de l’animal presents a selection of plates from the book « Voyages extraordinaires au Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle », by Nicolas Gilsoul and Jacques Cuisin.
Children's Wednesday: "In a Dog's Skin" Workshop: through games and role-playing, children discover how dogs express themselves, how to respond to them, and how to adopt good behaviours in daily life (registration required - 2:30 PM to 4 PM). A library (picture books, comics, manga, documentaries) and a selection of animal-themed games await you all afternoon (free admission - 2 PM to 6 PM).
For everyone:
Tuesday 1 September: In search of the lost French bestiary… Follow the tracks of the most fascinating creatures of French folklore (registration required).
Saturday 5 September: La Maison de l'animal offers an afternoon of encounters with authors, historians, and professionals from the animal world to explore the place of animals in our history, our heritage, and in cinema. Following the encounters, a book-signing session will be offered with the attending authors. The books will be available for sale thanks to the L'Arbre à lettres bookstore. Solidarity veterinary consultations, by the association Vétérinaires Pour Tous, on Thursday afternoons by appointment only (scheme subject to income conditions).
The reading and games corner: a thematic library and board games for all ages are freely accessible all week. Hot drinks available.
