La tête sur les épaules

It is a personal story that becomes a work of collective reflection. As a child, Kristina Chaumont learned that her mother had bipolar disorder. She was six when the diagnosis fell like a sentence. The fear that the crises first provoked gradually gives way to anger towards the psychiatric institution.

What does it mean to be ill? What is care? The author, director and actress has immersed herself in books and analysed her own journey, but it is collectively that she wishes, with this show, to pursue the reflection and "set out in search of paths to emancipation". Here, "set out" is meant literally: it is a matter of rising together, of making our way outside to find a space of repair where we can share and find calm.

When the consortium made up of Marseille Devant, ADIM Provence and Rougerie + Tangram was named winner of the municipal call for projects "Les Pépites Patrimoniales" with the project Les Dames, presented last February by Benoît Payan, Mayor of Marseille, the ambition was clear: to breathe new life into the former headquarters of the Compagnie Paquet and to create, in the heart of Marseille, a venue capable of bringing together the cinema, audiovisual and creative industries within a single ecosystem.

Written, directed and performed by Kristina Chaumont, in collaboration with Justine Bachelet.
