Le Festival mois kréyol 2026 - #10

The 10th edition of the festival will take place from 22 September to 6 December 2026 in Paris, Marseille, Avignon, Strasbourg, Nantes, Rennes or Toulouse. It continues in the Antilles and French Guiana in January 2026.

Founded in 2017, the Festival mois kréyol, "festival lang épi kilti kréyol", aims to address the important issues of representation of creolised and mixed cultures in the French cultural landscape.

Organised by the company Difé Kako, it has brought together nearly 15,000 people around 95 artistic and cultural events.

This shows the interest of the public in mainland France and overseas in drawing on the vitality of all the Creole cultures offered by the multitude of established, emerging or amateur artists from overseas, both from here and from elsewhere.

"We are very proud of the progress we have made in ten years: a festival now present in 12 territories, in mainland France and in the Antilles and French Guiana, a festival built with the holders of Creole cultural heritage, a festival that has managed to meet its audience over 10 years.

" The Festival Le Mois Kréyol is a journey into the heart of Creole cultures, between heritage, contemporary creation, encounters and transmission. From the outset, its aim has been to offer overseas artists genuine support, visibility and openness in metropolitan France.

Its ambition remains the same: to consider that this mutual support and backing are essential to overcoming the difficulties that each artistic company may encounter, and even more so when it is invisible.

This tenth anniversary is an occasion to take stock but also to highlight, as at every edition, people who have marked the history of Afro-descendant peoples.

This year it wishes to put the spotlight on French Guiana and the great figures who have marked the history of France, such as Léon Gontran Damas, Mme Taubira and her law,..

and, with even greater acuity, 28 October will be celebrated as the International Day of Creole Culture and Language.
