LE SANKYOKU: BETWEEN IKUTA AND YAMADA TRADITIONS – A RARE IMMERSION, IN JAPAN AS IN FRANCE. After a highly acclaimed concert in 2023, this traditional Japanese music ensemble returns to the Théâtre de la Ville in an expanded formation.
Centred around the Sankyoku, it brings together koto, sangen, and shakuhachi. Seven musicians, blending breath, strings, and voice, interpret the great works of the Edo period (1603-1868).
Rarely performed in Europe, this repertoire reveals all its richness through the exceptional encounter of the Ikuta and Yamada schools, with their distinct and complementary styles, offering a subtle and deeply expressive listening experience.
