Les Gaulois

LES GAULOIS À la lisière des sous-bois, two wild boars. They graze, calm, in an imagined Gaul, then collapse into the ditch. Olivier and Thomas, two bearded, hairy Gauls, live on the riverbank. They vaguely gather mistletoe. They vaguely await the Romans.

They bathe as the Gauls once bathed in ancient times. Now and then, they scratch the earth. They hold a Gallic banquet, sing Gallic songs and make Gallic gestures. Olivier and Thomas are on a weekend break in a village in the South of France. They pass a disused building.

On it, an inscription in marker pen: « Les Gaulois  ». Olivier and Thomas, two moustachioed gendarmes, come to question Thomas and Olivier. Something must have happened in the building. Was it yesterday, or in the fifth century BC?

In this unstable Gaul, nourished by academic culture and pop culture, shaped by contemporary tropisms, something surfaces.

Crossed by very ancient, violent, uncertain memories, Olivier and Thomas try to grasp and shake loose its fragments, laugh, tremble, sweat, struggle and pass the Time. Unpublished text: Marion Aubert, commissioned by Thomas Blanchard and Olivier Martin-Salvan.
