The evolution of garden and public space design practices at the heart of an historic district.

Plant transformations of a historic district: from the banks of the Seine to the Hôtel de Ville, former town hall of the 4th arrondissement. The Académie du Climat is a venue for experimentation, information and documentation on climate change and its impact on daily life and biodiversity, mainly in urban areas. As we walk around the surroundings, we will discover that this historic district is gradually transforming to respond to these challenges, through various developments connected to one another: an urban forest on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, a cool island forming a link with the rows of trees and neighbouring gardens. The route continues with the development of the Rives de Seine park, covering 10 hectares in the heart of the city, promoting sporting activities and gentle mobility, and finally the creation of the memorial garden in tribute to the victims of 13 November 2015, on the forecourt of the Church of Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais, a space of remembrance and also a welcome for birds, evoking the spirit of those who were lost, through a carefully chosen and varied plant palette, birdbaths set into the hollows of the stones and nesting boxes in the trees.
