In the two months before her death, in June and July 1962, Marilyn Monroe recorded an intimate confession almost every day for her psychiatrist, Dr Greenson. It is this intimacy that the show brings to the stage: the account of 36 years of a chaotic and paradoxical path. She fought all her life, alone, against all her demons: her mother's madness, a bruised childhood, the anguished search for her father, her confinement in the role of a dumb blonde, which fed her obsessive fear of being stupid and mediocre, repeated emotional failures, dependence on medication and alcohol, and suicide attempts. But what makes "Marilyn" a spectacle is her struggle, her crazy hope for better days. What is staged is the inner chaos of a woman, told through her own weapons: her cheerfulness, her humour and her light, used as acts of resistance. This is what we sought from the very first rehearsals, and what we nurtured with care throughout the work. Her laughter.
