LE GRENIER DE BABOUCHKA

Marius is a young man who is enthralled by the sea. He loves his father César, gruff and good-natured, and he also loves little Fanny, who sells seashells in front of César's bar on the Old Port of Marseille. Since childhood, the urge to see the world has set him aflame. But he does not want to abandon his father, who might die of grief, nor the pretty Fanny, who thinks only of him. Until the day the three-masted schooner La Malaisie makes a brief stopover in Marseille…

We are delighted to welcome back Jean-Philippe Daguerre's company to open this season, with a play whose language is robust and full of verve, and whose magnificent lines have become cult classics. The staging brings out all of Pagnol's tenderness for his colourful characters, highlighting their humanity in full.

Come and rediscover the card game at the Bar de la Marine or the recipe for the Mandarin citron!

"We leave this Marius moved, lulled by the singing accent of the actors, troubled by the timelessness of the conflicts played out here: youthful dreams, the call of the open sea, the weight of family and the difficulty of loving freely." Spectatif

"Absolutely a must-see, to rediscover Pagnol: popular, tender, funny and terribly human." Speed Radio
