Overview
As part of the exhibition « Métamorphoses, les chapeaux de Maison Michel », the Galerie du 19M teams up with Souffle Collectif to present MOIRE, a new performance with Panamanian artist Ana Elena Tejera and violinist Sylvain Rabourdin, joined by guest musicians.
Conceived in resonance with the exhibition Métamorphoses, les chapeaux de Maison Michel, MOIRE explores spinning, repetition and the forms these movements give rise to.
Present in many dances and ritual practices, notably in the Sufi tradition of the whirling dervishes, circular movement can alter the experience of time and open the way to other states of consciousness.
Ana Elena Tejera's spinning engages in dialogue with live music made of motifs, pulses and repetitions. MOIRE questions what covers, protects, reveals and transforms the body, much like the hat: it shifts the silhouette, extends gestures and brings new presences to light.
Between movement, sound and material, the performance composes a body in constant transformation. Appearances, movements and disappearances follow one another, tracing the stages of a metamorphosis.
30pm to 10pm (doors open at 7pm) Throughout the evening, visitors can enjoy a night-time visit of the exhibition Métamorphoses, les chapeaux de Maison Michel, along with snacks and drinks from Café du 19M.
