Overview
The Chœur des Musicales du Liban, conducted by Fadi Khalil, and organist Elie Sawma celebrate Christmas with works by Bach, Poulenc, Victoria and Lebanese composers, in aid of children with cancer in Lebanon.
As Christmas approaches, the Chœur des Musicales du Liban, conducted by Fadi Khalil and accompanied on the organ by Elie Sawma, presents 'Nour', a musical journey around the mystery of the Nativity.
The programme brings together different eras and traditions: Renaissance polyphony (Victoria), Byzantine and Latin chants, Bach, Poulenc, Duruflé, James MacMillan, and Lebanese composers — Naji Hakim, Khalil Rahme, Iyad Kanaan and Ramzi Kandalaft, whose 'Milad al-Kalima', commissioned by the festival, will be premiered.
Structured in three parts — the wait, the mystery, the light — this concert celebrates Christmas in a spirit of hope, peace and fellowship. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Children's Cancer Center, to support children with cancer in Lebanon.
