A reading with Mariann Mathéus and Patrick Karl, whose story begins: "Once upon a time there was a fierce Black woman and a little Jew, who lived together for a long time, had two boys and wrote half a dozen novels without seeing time pass… " This is the story of a rare couple.

That of two writers, one from Guadeloupe, the other Jewish, whose intertwined work bears witness to the suffering of their peoples. And that of two beings desperately united, who, for fifty-five years, every evening, read each other a love poem by Pablo Neruda.

Yet there is a mystery surrounding the Schwarz-Barts. Why, in the mid-1970s, did they fall silent and shut themselves away in their home in Guadeloupe?

Created on the initiative of Mariann Mathéus, the Compagnie Moun San Mélé combines theatre, music, dance, and poetry, in Creole and French. Mariann Mathéus is a Guadeloupean author, composer, and performer.

Patrick Karl, an actor and theatre director since 1980, has journeyed to meet the Théâtre d'art. Creation and decentralisation have influenced his nomadic path alongside essential authors and poets such as Shakespeare, Goldoni, Chekhov, Genet, Beckett, Char, Koltès.

Mariann and Patrick have worked together several times, meeting diverse audiences both on stage (with Aimé Césaire's "Discours sur le colonialisme") and in schools and during theatre initiation workshops.

Ardentes highlights the sensitive, sometimes bitter, gaze a woman casts upon her own body. This choreographic creation is born from the encounter between two dancers whose sincere and benevolent friendship acts as a mirror.

Through a co-creation process, their movements respond, confront, and influence each other, giving birth to an intimate and sensitive choreographic language. Collectif Echolupté
