Overview

Olympe (s)Genre: Contemporary theatre After the success of PUNK.E.S ou Comment nous ne sommes pas devenues célèbres, Justine Heynemann and Rachel Arditi take on the mythical figure of Olympe de…

S ou Comment nous ne sommes pas devenues célèbres, Justine Heynemann and Rachel Arditi take on the mythical figure of Olympe de Gouges in a feminist and festive musical epic. 1789.

As France undergoes an unprecedented upheaval, Olympe, author, director and troupe leader, tries in vain to have her play Zamore et Mirza staged at the Comédie-Française. The refusal imposed on her has no other motive than everyday misogyny.

Olympe flies into a rage as powerful as the one echoing through the streets of Paris. She joins the struggle, actively taking part in building a new society. Like many citizens, she believes that the man of “All men are born free and equal” is also a woman. But in fact, no.

Not really… Funny and rhythmic, the play carries you along with its energetic cast. From Olympe’s son (magnificent Simon Cohen) to the author herself (Rachel Arditi), from misogynists to badass poetesses, Olympe(s) knocks the old world off its pedestal. Jubilant!

TTT - Télérama “Super-theatre”. Justine Heynemann and Rachel Arditi have an absolutely incredible troupe of actors who can also sing. Sparkling, very well acted and very well staged!

), staged with the precision of an 18th-century clock, the show salutes the courageous rebels who simply dreamed of equality and liberty. ) An invigorating show enhanced by spectacular scenes. Rachel Arditi is an imperial Olympe de Gouges!

Le Figaro The stage becomes a party, a celebration of the fire that moves us. The feminism spreading through this new work by the director becomes the only possible horizon. L’Avenir.

Rachel Arditi is a whirlwind, and seeing her take on the role of Olympe de Gouges at her own (dé)measure is a delight.
