Meet Nerea Dezac, author of the play "Chienne noire", published by Quartett
In the immensity of a boreal forest, a Black woman watches over an isolated house, a child, and an animal. Her life fades into the repetition of daily gestures: feeding, cleaning, starting over.
Prisoner of an immutable schedule, she endures the incessant noise of the animal and the whims of Lou, a little girl who is by turns brutal, demanding, and humiliating.
In this exhausting routine, every detail becomes crucial: with an almost obsessive attention, she tries to hold on, to preserve a fragile balance in the face of the pressure that shapes each of her days. Nerea Dezac is a French-Quebecois author.
After discovering the stage through opera, she moved to France in 2021 to study dramatic writing and joined ENSATT in 2023. She also conducts research on racialised women in Quebecois theatre. Chienne noire is her first text, published by Éditions Quartett.
