Overview
Meeting with Nerea Dezac, author of the play 'Chienne noire', published by Éditions Quartett
In the vastness of a boreal forest, a Black woman watches over an isolated house, a child and an animal. Her life fades away in the repetition of everyday gestures: feeding, cleaning, starting again.
A prisoner of an unchanging timetable, she endures the animal's incessant racket and the whims of Lou, a little girl by turns brutal, demanding and humiliating.
In this exhausting routine, every detail becomes crucial: with an almost obsessive attentiveness, she tries to hold on, to preserve a fragile balance in the face of the pressure that shapes each of her days. Nerea Dezac is a Franco-Québécois author.
After discovering the stage through opera, she settled in France in 2021 to study playwriting and joined the ENSATT in 2023. In parallel, she conducts research on racialised women in Québécois theatre. 'Chienne noire' is her first text, published by Éditions Quartett.
