Overview
As part of the Musical Ecran festival
The Way We Move: documentary film directed by Vanessa Dumont and Nicolas Davenel (France • 2025 • 80 minutes)
A pioneer of sign language music interpretation, Amber Galloway reveals the deep yet little-known connection between the Deaf world and music. The film follows her as she passes on her chansigne method to new interpreters, working towards a goal: to take them, alongside international stars, onto the stages of the legendary ACL festival in Austin. Through rehearsals and concerts, the documentary examines the accessibility of Deaf and hard-of-hearing people to music and concerts, and more broadly the place of disabled audiences in the cultural sector.
Screening in the presence of director Vanessa Dumont and Marie Berthoumieu, programme manager at Arte, followed by a discussion moderated by Sonia Gonzalez, a member of the programming jury of the Musical Ecran festival.
