S ou comment nous ne sommes pas devenues célèbres » is loosely inspired by the true story of « The Slits », the first all-female punk group from London. They formed in 1976 and split up in 1979. There were four of them: Viv Albertine, Ari Up, Palmolive and Tessa Pollitt.
They were between fourteen and twenty years old. They achieved the feat of becoming the first band in the world to gain total control of their image from their record label. On stage and at a breakneck pace, six performers play the six lead roles.
They also play the sixteen other characters in the story. They skilfully flit from one role to another thanks to simple props: a jacket for Sid Vicious, a cigarette for Patti Smith. All singers and musicians, they slip from song to song with equal grace.
