Overview
From 10 September to 24 October 2026, A. Galerie, a contemporary photography gallery in the 16th arrondissement, presents LA F.AI.M, an exhibition by British photographer Rankin exploring what artificial intelligence does to the desire to create.
A. M, a new exhibition by British artist and photographer Rankin, from 10 September to 24 October 2026.
The title borrows from the French word "faim" (hunger): the exhibition explores the driving force that compels an artist to create — desire, curiosity, obsession, the irrepressible need to produce — at a time when artificial intelligence can generate virtually any image.
In recent years, Rankin has immersed himself in generative AI, producing several thousand images and creating one of the largest bodies of generative photographic work by a contemporary photographer.
The exhibition spans portraiture, sculpture, fashion, mythology, religion and art history, posing a simple question: what remains human when anyone can generate an image? For Rankin, the answer lies not in the final image, but in the desire that gave birth to it.
Opening reception on Thursday 10 September 2026 from 7 pm to 10 pm. Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 7 pm, Saturday from 12 pm to 7 pm.
