About Smaïl Chertouk

A scientist by training, Smaïl Chertouk built a career in brand strategy and innovation consulting before dedicating himself to writing. He has several acclaimed essays to his name, including "Etrangers de souche", "Rupture Tranquille", and "L'Algérie, tu l'aimes ou tu la kiffes! ", as well as a collection of poems and several specialised books and writings. With his "amused guides" that blend derision and deconstruction, the author casts his gaze and frees his pen on societal topics as varied as relationships, the digital world, and the figure of the foreigner in France. Smaïl is also deeply involved in community work, having founded and chaired the Collectif Day Z, which promotes Algerian culture in France. His one-man show "L'Algérie, tu l'aimes ou tu la kiffes!
