A five-time GRAMMY Awards® winning collective, Snarky Puppy has “always been a band that puts the sound of the music first,” explains Michael League, the band's leader and bassist.

Drawing from a wide range of influences — funk, rhythm & blues, hard rock, classic soul, contemporary gospel, new technologies, fusion, and jazz — Snarky Puppy isn't quite a jazz band, nor truly a fusion band, and even less a jam band.

” “Our sonic universe has expanded considerably over the years,” explains League. “In our early days, we were more jazz, more cerebral, and more focused on the music itself. By integrating into the Dallas scene, our music became groovier, more emotional, deeper in a way.

” In January 2025, the band once again collaborated with the Metropole Orkest, a hybrid ensemble based in the Netherlands known for blending jazz, classical, and popular music on a symphonic scale.

Recorded live over three evenings, from January 17th to 19th, 2025, in Utrecht, this project reunites the two formations, ten years after their first collaboration, Sylva.

Released in 2015, this orchestral suite earned them the GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album the following year. The result of these new reunions, Somni, was released in November 2025 on GroundUP Music.
