ZAGATE TOUR - Souad Massi
The free voice of Algeria
Souad Massi has won so many awards for her music that they are hard to count. The Algerian-born singer-songwriter has collected gold records and Victoires de la musique, and she recently received the "Album de musiques du monde" prize for "ZAGATE" at the Victoires du jazz. The album has been praised by critics and audiences alike, and on two of its tracks she shares the stage with Gaël Faye and Youssoupha. It is the record she is bringing to the TLA stage.
At the heart of the album are freedom and justice, which she sings in Arabic and French. Over her twenty-year career, her worldwide reputation has taken her across the globe, and she now presents what is musically her most accomplished album and also her most committed. It is on stage, accompanied by four talented musicians, that she best brings her music to life, clear and powerful. Committed, determined and musically at her peak, Souad Massi is freer than ever.
