Overview

The Brotherhood Director/choreographer: Carolina Bianchi Cie Cara de Cavalo: Bruta, Carolina Bianchi, Chico Lima, Fernanda Libman, Joana Ferraz, José Artur, Larissa Ballarotti, Marina Matheus and Rafael Limongelli Not recommended for under-18s Show duration: 3h40 with interval In Portuguese, with French surtitles "I am not the protagonist of this play.

The protagonists of this play are all alive. " Chapter II: Back from limbo, Carolina Bianchi picks up the thread of her investigation into the relationship between theatre and violence.

In this second instalment of the Trilogia Cadela Força, she dissects the fraternal bonds that underpin the art world: those tacit alliances that elevate great male geniuses to glory while all too often pushing women artists to the margins.

Bringing together the men of her company around her, the author and director examines the dynamics of mutual admiration that govern male relationships — this brotherhood whose codes and language most likely stem from violence and misogyny.

Determined to untangle this knot, Carolina Bianchi probes her own ambivalence towards these "great masters" of theatre, towards this Brotherhood she cannot so easily shake off.

Torn between fascination and repulsion, she opens the doors to a theatre in crisis, whose only way out may well be the explosion of a radical poetry.
