Overview
Trilogia Cadela Força Director/choreographer: Carolina Bianchi Cie Cara de Cavalo: Bruta, Carolina Bianchi, Chico Lima, Fernanda Libman, Joana Ferraz, José Artur, Larissa Ballarotti, Marina Matheus and Rafael Limongelli Not recommended for under-18s Show duration: 10h with intervals In Portuguese, with French surtitles For ten hours, Carolina Bianchi and her company Cara de Cavalo journey through the three parts of the Trilogia Cadela Força, an astonishing fresco exploring the unbreakable ties between the history of art and violence.
Part I: Haunted by the tragic fate of Italian performance artist Pippa Bacca, Carolina Bianchi sets out to unearth the fragments of an art history shot through with rape and femicide.
Faced with this genealogy of women artists exposed to violence, she conducts her own investigation.
Under the effect of Boa Noite, Cinderela (a powerful sedative), she surrenders her consciousness; her writing then finds a path through the space between life and death, that nightmare where the women and artists she is searching for resurface.
Part II: Returned from limbo, Carolina Bianchi dissects the fraternal bonds underpinning the art world: a brotherhood whose codes and language are rooted in violence and misogyny.
She then examines her own ambivalence towards these 'great masters' of theatre, towards this Brotherhood she cannot so easily shake off, and opens the doors to a theatre in crisis, whose only way out might just be the eruption of a radical poetry.
Part III: Carolina Bianchi closes her trilogy by exploring the mystery of writing, which she links to the enigma of her own sexuality.
Through a rich assemblage of drafts, notebooks and notes, she summons the figures of other women writers – Hilda Hilst, Emily Dickinson – blending her voice with their words. Multiplying her alter egos, she opens a space for fantasy, and in particular
