Overview
As he says himself: "I have a face that doesn't allow for long silences"... With his long beard and imposing presence, Umut Köker stands out on the stand-up scene. But don't be fooled by his "whipping boy" look, because the thirty-something is not short of a "Paradoxe" or two.
With his sharp pen and a gaze as gentle, sensitive and tender as it is lucid about the world, he delivers a show that is both hilarious and poignant.
A skilful blend of personal confidences about his Turkish and Kurdish origins, his childhood in a suburban tower block and his arrival in an office block in La Défense, his singledom, or the everyday racism around him, "Paradoxe", his first show, champions the need to look beyond appearances.
Disarming finesse and undeniable comic flair: Umut Köker is the unmissable revelation of this autumn.
