Alela Diane + the Hackles

The 6MIC, in association with Astérios Spectacles, presents: ALELA DIANE Alela Diane, an indie-folk singer from Portland, releases Looking Glass, her sixth studio album, marked by a profound personal transition.

Recorded as she was leaving the house where she had lived through marriages, motherhood and upheaval, the album captures the emotional turmoil of that period.

A mother of two young children and facing the challenges of the pandemic, Diane drew on a new discipline, rising every morning at dawn to write.

Looking Glass, produced by Tucker Martine, with arrangements by Heather Woods Broderick, features prestigious guests such as Carl Broemel and Scott Avett.

Shortly after the recording, she moved with her family into a Victorian house to be restored, a project rich in meaning and childhood memories.

Faithful to her timeless aesthetic, the album's title echoes the nineteenth-century mirror as much as Lewis Carroll's upside-down world, symbolising passage, reflection and the unexpected.

Through this album, Diane continues a sensitive exploration of motherhood, home and the passing of time. THE HACKLES A folk group from Astoria, Oregon, The Hackles is made up of Kati Claborn, Luke Ydstie and Halli Anderson.

The trio creates a singular, unique and fascinating music at the crossroads of genres, between folk and americana.
