Any Young Mechanic

Any Young Mechanic is coming to Paris! The Australian group will present its modern, cinematic folk at the Babour Sauvage on 21 October 2026.

From Adelaide, Any Young Mechanic creates music at the crossroads of folk, orchestral pop and independent rock. Carried by lyrics peopled with singular characters, intimate stories and imaginary landscapes, the quintet turns each track into a cinematic scene. Violin, banjo, double bass, guitars and keyboards intertwine to give birth to a world that is as rich as it is moving.

Formed within the independent music scene of Adelaide, the group brings together five musicians from classical and contemporary backgrounds. Inspired as much by Bob Dylan and Big Thief as by the new British scene represented by Black Midi and Black Country, New Road, they seek to reinvent folk by bringing it an energy and sensibility that are resolutely contemporary.

Their first album, The Modern Shoe Is Ruining The Foot, was recorded collectively in just three days, with no overdubs or edits. This raw, organic approach gives the twelve tracks a rare immediacy, as if the band were playing directly in the room with the listener.

Between delicate melodies, instrumental soarings and captivating stories, Any Young Mechanic offers a folk of the 21st century: alive, ambitious and deeply human.
