The idea behind Archives of the Invisible has long accompanied Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige. It has been nourished by their attention to what escapes, what remains off-screen, and to missing, buried or forgotten images. The project turns towards the images that artists and filmmakers still carry within them: shots that were filmed but never found their place in a film, yet remain alive in their memory. What becomes of these images, these faces, these landscapes, filmed, loved, then set aside? What might emerge if these images were shared and brought together?
Each artist and filmmaker is invited to unveil unreleased sequences and to accompany them with a testimony. Together, these fragments sketch a sensitive and polyphonic cartography: a living archive, in perpetual construction.
