Barbara Pravi Dalida

SEATED CONCERT - FREE SEATING. After two years touring around her album LA PIEVA, Barbara Pravi, a songwriter and performer known for her commitment to women's rights, returns to the stage to pay tribute to the great artist Dalida. During an enchanted interlude, Barbara immerses herself in the repertoire of the immense Dalida. A woman of the East (Barbara Pravi is of Iranian origin and Serbian through her maternal grandfather) thus pays homage to a diva who embraced the Mediterranean and the East in a single artistic gesture. The easy option would perhaps have been to celebrate Dalida's songs in disco or in voice and piano. Barbara Pravi chose instead to surprise herself (and, in the same stroke, us) by going back to the contact with her not-so-distant roots. Accompanied by the Balkan quartet Aälma Dili, Barbara gives Dalida's lyrics and melodies a different hearing and a different colour, through Gypsy music. Poetic and initiatory, this immersion in Dalida's songs is also an occasion for the artist to illustrate the acute awareness she holds about the condition of women, and about the imperative to always strengthen sisterhood in a spirit of intense sensuality. From a popular and iconic repertoire, Barbara Pravi shapes a project of very beautiful and necessary humanity. Dalida Pravi could become the new name of an artist. It will very likely become so for the duration of this show, blurring borders, imagined under a sky of unexpected music.
