What do Janequin, Brassens, Rameau, Luis Mariano and the Brothers Jacques have in common? Animals, whose song or behaviour set to music in songs, operas or instrumental pieces inspire a joyful carnival in the Ensemble Virêvolte.

The collective led by soprano Aurore Bucher loves crossing perspectives, complicities and arrangements into hybrid musical proposals. Not shying away from lifting high laughter and colours. Embracing three hundred years of music history doesn't faze them: a taste for risk and the call of dreams are also their trademark. Bêtes de scène says everything about this virtuosity in combining on stage singing, music, dance and cross-dressing with seriousness and freedom, daring and fragility. 'An invitation to explore our share of animality in a space where art, celebration, emotion and thought mingle without hierarchy,' according to Sol Espeche. This unusual bestiary boldly takes on the form and tone of a wild lyric cabaret.

Preceded by one or more rehearsals, participatory concerts invite audiences to actively contribute to the show from the audience. They accompany the artists on stage by singing or playing prepared excerpts. Rehearsals for participatory audiences occur on: Sunday 27 September from 9:30am–10:30am or 2:30pm–3:30pm. You must hold a participatory category ticket to access the rehearsal.
