One day, I allowed myself to dig into my memory to construct the story of a particular early childhood, freeing myself from family realities. Because nobody ever wanted or was able to tell me this story, I take it on myself: Bouches cousues (Sealed Lips) recounts the story of Philippe Cantrelle, born in Madagascar in 1963. Passing through the years of decolonisation with his head in the clouds, clinging to his family totems, the little boy fashions a bespoke memory, riddled with silence. This story is studded with small dazzling moments and great upheavals; we laugh, we cry, while the pressing need to undo these sealed lips gradually asserts itself.
