Ces Filles qu'On Attend

What are the marks left by childhood? What battles have shaped the lives of the strangers we pass in the street? No one has simply stepped over three hills to relax in a meadow; childhood leaves traces on adults like brambles on a knee. And that's when everything goes more or less normally. But what happens when things go wrong? When something seems out of place, seems not to be the norm, when difference is felt from the school playground. The weight of a body that is judged, the slowness of a thought that is pointed out, the chaos of a home one leaves every day, putting their little satchel on their back.

To write Ces filles qu’on attend, Claudine Galea, accompanied by the three performers of the show, met young girls from Saint-Denis who are growing up. She collected their words – sometimes rare, sometimes rough – to create a text in which she rapidly traces three heroic stories of teenagers. She listens to them walk the streets in the present time and encourages them to rush straight towards their future.

Elsa Granat directs these three life paths and continues her research into the place of children in our societies, the last link in the vulnerable. This show, which began three years ago at the initiative of Julie Deliquet, as part of the L’Équipé·e festival, continued thanks to the fieldwork carried out by the performers and the author. This season, a director takes it on to bring it to completion, thus demonstrating that theatre can today be created collaboratively from reality. A playful chain like an exquisite corpse, to tell the story of exquisite living beings.
