Charpentier, in partnership with the Orchestre Symphonique En résonance, will perform two characteristic works from the Italian and British repertoires dedicated to the Virgin Mary: Rossini's Stabat Mater, which blends the expressive style of Italian opera with a religious and meditative atmosphere alternating power and gentleness, and John Rutter's Magnificat composed in 1990, a large-scale work for choir, a solo soprano, and orchestra.
