D.N.E Trio

D.N.E. stands for Dynamique Non Efficiente, or "Non-Efficient Dynamic." We chose "non-efficient" because we believe a musical gesture need not be efficient, effective or productive, but sincere and generous. That is the idea we seek to convey through our music.

We met at the Pôle Supérieur de Paris, within its jazz department, and it was after two months of training that we decided to set up this project. It was obvious to all three of us; there was no need to ask ourselves any questions. The music flowed easily, and so did our human relationships.

The D.N.E Trio is primarily a composition project with a raw aesthetic, owing in particular to its instrumentation (tenor saxophone, double bass, drums), yet always with care devoted to writing singable melodies that bring warmth to the group's sound. We aim to write simple, limpid pieces, leaving room for improvisation so that each player can express their own sensitivity.
