Cradled by the melodies of the islands, Dafné Kritharas sings of the Mediterranean, exile, and travel. She imbues the universal song of fisherwomen and sailors' wives with her own experiences.

It's impossible to resist such a pure voice, at turns intimate and heart-wrenching, of exceptional power.

Steeped in Franco-Greek culture since childhood, Dafné Kritharas grew up in the shadow of Mediterranean tales and legends, which she brings back to life with intensity during her enchanting concerts.

From these intimate dramas, she weaves allegories, but also revives the festive aspect exhaled by popular songs and village celebrations.

Always on the horizon, the sea, a symbol of both separation and reunion, where the roots of a multiple heritage (Iranian, Armenian, Kurdish, Greek, Albanian…) merge.

From rebetiko to Sephardic songs from Asia Minor, she celebrates what connects us rather than what separates us, beyond communalism. Nourished by jazz and folk, her strong, clear voice vibrates in the high notes, resonates in the low notes.

Drawing from a timeless human heritage, the traditional instrumentation is sometimes spiced with a touch of electro. Dafné Kritharas is a little bit witch, a little bit magician, a little bit goddess… Greek, of course!
