Fatoumata Diawara: on Saturday 5 December 2026, at Le Toboggan (69150 Decines Charpieu), from €35. Tickets available.
Checked on 22 October 2026.
Overview
Hailed as one of the most beautiful voices in modern Africa, Fatoumata Diawara has already captivated a handful of English rock heroes (Damon Albarn - Gorillaz), several giants of American jazz (Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater) and also the adventurous Frenchman M!
Between tradition and modernity, she brings the wassoulou rhythms and the vocal techniques of West Africa up to date, breaking the rules within an eclectic and avant-garde universe.
Afro-pop, folk, jazz, funk or even indie rock: at the confluence of tradition and modernity, colourful and vivid, her music moves from one style to another with a breathtaking fluidity.
Through her lyrics there also emerges a highly committed personality, particularly in support of the cause of women.
