Darkness Picnic • Spectacle de DOM-

DOM- takes loose inspiration from "Picnic at Hanging Rock" (1975) by Peter Weir, adapted from the novel of the same name by Joan Lindsay. Starting from this unsettling fiction, tinged with dreaminess (the enigmatic disappearance of well-to-do young girls in colonial Australia in the 1900s), the Italian company questions our present, marked by a strong resurgence of conservatism: control of bodies, corseting of desires, and the persistence of colonial legacies.

The picnic then becomes a place of transition, where other possibilities take shape: a way of breaking free from imposed frameworks, of following other lines of desire, and of imagining together other ways of being in the world.

DOM- turns this familiar ritual into a genuinely shared experience, both sensory and political. Conceived as a poetic bivouac, the performance invites us to slow down and inhabit the world differently.

In a bewitching atmosphere, landmarks gradually fade: listening, sensations and imaginings take precedence over certainties, allowing desires, tensions and unsettling narratives to surface.

Echoing its research into environmental humanities and queer ecology, DOM- regards the group as an unstable ecosystem, traversed by relationships and transformations.

Without ever breaking with the disquieting delicacy of its set-up, the piece blurs the boundaries between spectators and performers, between reality and fiction.
