Dj set Dj Oil @Yuzu Record Bar

DJ Oil, alias Lionel Corsini, is a Marseille-based producer and DJ with a career spanning over twenty years.

A founding member of the group Troublemakers, signed to Blue Note in the early 2000s, he helped establish a French trip-hop aesthetic nourished by jazz, instrumental hip-hop and organic sounds.

As a solo artist, he develops a dense and tactile music, built from rare samples, analogue textures and rhythms borrowed from African-American music and global sound cultures.

His albums such as Black Notes, Phantom and Raise of a Cosmic Dancer reflect a special attention to sonic material, the dynamics of groove and instrumental storytelling.

A musician attentive to detail, he conceives his performances as free assemblages, balancing improvisation, collage and sonic exploration. His work is rooted both in tradition and in a constant search for new points of balance.
