Overview
Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine. Johanna Malangré, conductor. Liao Changyong, baritone. Traditional airs and songs from China. Maurice Ravel, Fanfare from "L'Éventail de Jeanne", Don Quichotte à Dulcinée.
Jacques Ibert, Valse from "L'Éventail de Jeanne", Quatre chansons de Don Quichotte.
From the banks of the Yangtze River to the arid plains of La Mancha, from delicate, sensitive classical Chinese poetry to the epic verses of the hidalgo Don Quixote, this programme is a grand journey between two musical Edens.
Liao Changyong acts as guide, his voice carrying both traditional Chinese heritage and Ravel's fire. An evening paying tribute to musical dynasties, and to their contemporary voices.
