Élégie d'une disparition

Élégie d’une disparition is a stage performance built on a sound-based dramaturgy.

Conceived by three Lebanese artists, Kinda Hassan (composer), Racha Baroud (performer) and Carine Doumit (writer and editor), the piece questions the notion of disappearance, both of bodies and of territories, across the Mediterranean space.

Drawing on field research conducted in Marseille, Cairo and Beirut, the project feeds on the crossings from one territory to another: Lebanon, where catastrophe repeats itself endlessly; Egypt, a cultural cradle and an inexhaustible source of inspiration; and France, the country towards which migration is directed.

By bringing their respective disciplines together, the three artists weave a collective narrative running through shifts and transformations between the various bodily, sonic, visual and textual fragments gathered and produced.
